Church Weekend Away - 30 July

This year we will be having a combined weekend away with All Saints. It will be a great time to fellowship with the morning church.

Friday 30th, July to Sunday 1st, August, 2010.

We will be heading up to Camp Kedron in Ingleside. Camp Kedron is a Christian retreat and conference centre next to beautiful Kuringai National Park. The site has great recreactional facilities including trampolining, basketball, indoor soccer, foosball, pool table and bush walking.

It will be a good time to encourage one another and study the Bible.

The theme of the weekend will be the 'Sovereignty of God':

Community Dinner, July

Come and share a meal with those in our local community this Wednesday, 21st July. If you can help out in the kitchen or set up be there at 5.30pm, dinner starts at 6pm (this is the correct start time and is different to what is on the annoucments on the church newsletter). Let Chris Herbert know if you can help out.

New Atheism - An Old Mistake?

In July, Dr. Lewis Jones will be speaking at church on responding to the New Atheists Movement. There will be four talks on the topics of Religion, Morality, Evidence and Truth.

The talks will be in the church hall at All Saints Anglican:

Sunday 4th July, 6.30pm – Religion – Listen to the talk
Sunday 11th July, 6.30pm – Morality – Listen to the talk
Sunday 18th July, 6.30pm – Evidence

Wednesday 21st July, 7.30pm – Truth

These talks will be a good opportunity to invite a friend to church.

Tait’s Mission Info Night

Having returned permanently from Eurasia, the Tait's are embarking on cross-cultural ministry in partnership with Cross-Culture Bible Church in Arnclife. FEVA Black Tie Dinner

Men’s Social Night - Pizza ‘n’ Pixels

It's time for the men to hang out while Toby is away. We thought it best not to do anything too demanding – physically or financially. So, what fulfils all the criteria of being manly, social, easy and cheap? Pizza and video games of course.

There will be at least three consoles of various generations going simultaneously. So if you don't have the dexterous skills needed to master the real-life warzone intensity of Call of Duty you can surely manage the one button simplicity of Galaga.

This is a purely social night so feel free to bring along any friends who might be interested.

Men’s Fellowship - Fatherhood

Malcolm will be speaking about "Fatherhood" as we gather around a bin fire. It's a topic that we've all had some exposure and the talk will be relevant to all men - single, dating or married.

Women’s Fellowship MAG Project

Women's Fellowship is this coming Friday. This month's MAG Project is a great event to invite your friends to, there will be a short bible talk but also plenty of time to chat and sew. We'll be making dresses for Tanzanian girls in need in support of CMS Mission Aid Group.

Venue: All Saints Anglican Church Hall, 325 Stanmore Road Petersham
Date: Friday 21 May 2010
Time: 7.30pm

What to Bring:
- 100% Cotton Fabric- 1-2 metres for larger pattern pieces, good quality scraps for pockets trimmings and sleeves, brightly coloured, suited to young girls
- Ribbons, lace, buttons or other trimmings.
- If you have them- sewing machines, overlockers, sewing pins fabric scissors and pinking shears.
- If possible, a small donation to contribute to the cost of posting the dresses to Tanzania and for the materials provided.

Small Group Bible Studies 2010

Small group bible studies have kicked off for 2010. Small groups meet each week in a casual environment, normally someones home. They are an important way for everyone to get know you and encourage each other while looking at the Bible. If you are new to PEC or have been coming for a while and are not in a group you should try and get along to one.

Meet Leigh Hatcher at the Warren View Hotel on two nights in May. Leigh will host a question and answer session about 'Why you should give your life to Jesus'.

Leigh Hatcher is a journalist and author who currently works as a news presenter for Sky News Australia. He has been in the news business for over 30 years including working in the Canberra Press Gallery and as European Correspondent for the Seven Network.

Leigh is also a committed Christian and a graduate of Moore Theological College.

This is a great opportunity to ask Leigh any questions you have about the Christian faith. Enjoy a pub meal and listen in.
